The lost wreckage of a ship belonging to 17th century pirate Captain Henry Morgan has been discovered in Panama, said a team of U.S. archaeologists — and the maker of Captain Morgan rum.
Even with five ships lost in 1671, Captain Morgan (the pirate) and his men prevailed in their mission to capture Panama city from Spain. Now, those five ships have become new treasure for Captain Morgan (the rum), as the company funded an out-of-money quest to find the ships.
Though the dive & archaeology team is thrilled with the find of the boats, the rum manufacturer is much happier with a series of unopened cargo boxes found in a ship’s hull. Their hope, obviously, is for some famous pirate rum.
My fingers are crossed too.
